Directory Basics Video
Let's talk about using the consumer side of the Mass PCA Directory. You need an email address to use the directory. If you don't have one, there are many free options, such as Gmail, Outlook Mail, Yahoo Mail, and AOL Mail. The first step is to register. After you click on the "I need to hire a PCA" button, enter your email address and create a password for your account using the rules listed, then click on Register. Open your email inbox. Open the email from info@masspcadirectory.org, click on the link, which will activate your registration, then login using your email address and the password you just created. The second step is to complete your Account Information. While the directory needs your street address to find PCAs who live near you, it is not seen by any PCAs until you share it with them. The directory does not show your address to any users. The third step is to complete the form with the details of your job--location, hours, skills needed, preferred language, etc. When you hit the "Post my job now" button, you'll see a list of PCAs that match your information. You should look through the PCA profiles on the list to find the ones that match your needs the best. The PCAs that live closest to you are listed first. That means the last PCA on the list lives the farthest away from you. You can contact a PCA that matches your job post several ways. You can email them with the directory's email system, or you can contact them using the method they listed on their application. A few things to note--The directory features change from time to time. New features are added, and features that are not useful go away. If you log in and things look different, feel free to call the directory operators to ask your questions. You will need to change your password every 60 days for security. New PCAs join the directory every week. If you don't post a job, you will not get notified about new PCAs. You'll have to log in and search on your own. Let the directory work for you and post a job. You will get an alert, either text or email, when new workers are in your area. An important tip during this process is to respect each other's schedules when setting up interviews and appointments. No one likes their time wasted. If you schedule a meeting or interview and then can't make it, please call and cancel or reschedule. People get more upset if you don't show up at all. Visit the More Information tab on the directory for useful tips and information. And remember, if you get stuck or have questions at any time, call the operators at the Mass PCA Directory Help Line. They are waiting to talk to you.
