Registering on the Mass PCA Directory:
Hello, welcome to the Massachusetts PCA directory. My name is Ellie Langhill, and I'm going to show you how to register on the directory. Let's get started. Registering on the directory is the first step to using it. Registration is easy and only requires an email address. Let me walk you through the steps. Step one is to go to www.mass and select "I need to hire a PCA." This option is on the first page. On this page, you can enter your email address and select "consumer" from the drop-down list. You'll also need to create a password on this page. Your password needs to be at least eight characters long, have at least one special character, one number, and one uppercase letter. Once you're done, click the blue "register" button. After clicking, you'll receive an email from info at masspcadirectory.org, letting you know your online account is ready to use. Open this email and click the link in the message. If you don't receive the email after one day, check your spam or junk folder. There are three options for logging in: the login option in the top right corner of the screen, the login option on the top portion of the page, and the returning users box. Once logged in, explore the helpful features of the directory. The next video in the series, completing your account page, will help you enter the information you need to find a great match. Thank you for watching. If you need help to register, please call 1-888-627-7722 to speak to a real person who can assist you. The helpline is available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m to 5 p.m.
Completing the Consumer Account Settings Page:
Hello welcome to the Massachusetts personal care attendant directory. My name is Allie Langhill and I'm going to show you how to complete the account settings page on the directory. The account settings page is where you need to provide your contact information just the first time you use it. The directory also needs your MassHealth ID number to validate your account. This directory is only for MassHealth PCA consumer employers. On the account settings page, you can also choose how and when to get notified by the directory when there's a match for your job posting. Let's get started. Login From the masspca.org directory landing page, click on the login option and enter in your email address and password. If you are using your own computer or tablet to access the directory, you can select the "remember me" and you will not have to type in your email and password each time you want to log in. Once you've entered in your information, you can select the blue login button. Account Settings Now you should see your consumer home page. This page has four options: account settings, hire a worker, search for workers, and read your messages. Please click on account settings now. Here are the fields of information needed for your account settings. Most fields are required. Please note PCA candidates will only be able to see your town when they search or are matched with your job. Your name, street address, email address, and phone number are private until you share them. It is required to provide an address on the account settings page so the directory can filter out the PCAs that live closest to you. Required Fields Let's review the fields. Fields marked with a red asterisk are required fields. You'll need to enter in your first name, your last name, and your MassHealth ID number. You want to use the ID number from your most recent MassHealth card. If an invalid MassHealth ID number is entered in this field, you will receive an error message. If you're having difficulty confirming your recent MassHealth ID number, you can contact your local personal care management agency and they can assist you with confirming your recent MassHealth ID number. You'll need to enter in a phone number. If you have a cell phone number and you want to list that, you can. If you opt to receive text notifications, then a cell phone number is required in this field. If the phone number entered in this field cannot receive text messages, you will see a red error message on the screen. The cell phone number field will accept numbers from prepaid cell phones. Enter in an email address. This should be the same email address you used for logging into the directory. The directory does not allow for email updates. This means if you need to use a different email address, you'll need to create a new account. Address line one: this is your street address. Your street address is used for location searching only and is never shared. Please do not enter in an apartment number in this address line. This may result in an error message. If you do have an apartment number or a suite number, you can enter that into address line 2. Next, enter in your zip code. This is a required field. The zip code is used to identify personal care attendants within a 25-mile radius of your zip code and for the state. You can enter M.A. for Massachusetts. This program is available to Massachusetts residents only. Last, you can select your city or town from the drop-down list. This drop-down list includes all the cities and towns within Massachusetts. The next section of the account settings page is the notification section. You can select how you want to be alerted about new PCAs that are in your area. Your options are email and/or text messages. Please remember if you select text messages, you need to make sure there is a cell phone number listed above. Select the boxes that apply. You can also select how often you want to be alerted about new PCAs that are on the directory. Your options are daily notifications or weekly notifications. Select the box that applies. You can also change how and how often you are alerted whenever you like. The last step to completing the account settings page is to review the PCA website terms and conditions. Once you have reviewed the terms and conditions, you can select the box that reads, "I have read and agree to the terms and conditions of services with regard to establishing an account." This is a required step in setting up your account settings page. Once these steps are done, you can select the blue save button on the bottom left side of the screen. Thank you for watching. If you need help using the Mass PCA directory or have any questions about the directory, please call 1-888-MASS-PCA to speak to a real person who can help you. The helpline is available Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

From the masspcadirectory.org landing page, click on "Login". Enter your email address and password, then click on the blue "Login" button. Now you should see your consumer home page. This page shows four options: Account Settings, Hire a Worker, Search for Workers, and Read Your Messages. PCAs who have viewed your job posting and who want to connect with you can send you a secure message through the directory. Job messages are anonymous links, so none of your personal contact information is visible. Your personal contact information is only shared when you decide to share it. Click on "Read Your Messages". This area of the directory will show you who sent you a message, the subject of their email, and the date and time it was sent. You as the consumer have options here on managing your messages. "Read" allows you to read the message from the PCA. "Reply" if you want to reply to the PCA using the directory, select this option. "Delete" if you've already read the message and now want to delete it. Select "Delete". "View Worker" allows you to review key details about the PCA. If you're not interested in hiring this PCA, you also have the option to "Hide Worker" and add notes. To return to your messages, select "Return to Messages" on the bottom left corner of the screen. Your sent messages option on the "Read Your Messages" page allows you to see if you have already replied to a previous message. They will be stored here. Thank you for watching. through friday is now mornings afternoons evenings and overnight i'm available for all those four shifts monday through friday my weekend availability remains the same i'm only available on the mornings for saturday and sunday or for overnight so i'm going to keep that as is and my profile currently states that i'm currently available to perform backup work as well but that has changed as well i'm not available for backup work so i'm going to change this from available to unavailable and i'm simply telling the directory i'm unavailable to perform backup work as a pca and as soon as i've selected unavailable it shades out the fields below it because i've simply listed myself as unavailable after i've reviewed this page if my availability looks correct i can go ahead and hit save if i need to clear it out and start over i can select cancel by selecting cancel none of this information will be saved okay so i'm going to go ahead and just select save here and you'll see it's Searching for a PCA Job and Reading Messages:
Hello and welcome to the massachusetts personal care attendant directory my name is ali langhill and i'm going to show you how to search for a pca job and how to read your messages on the directory let's get started Logging in from the www.masspcadirectory.org landing page click on login and enter your email address and password once you've entered in your email and password click the blue login button now you should see your pca home page once you've completed your profile the directory will find jobs that match your profile if there is a match you can see them here let me show you an example here i'm logged in as a pca and i have a few matches under jobs that match your profile from this page you can view basic details about the job contact the job poster hide the job if it's not a good match or add notes to the job posting any notes you add are only visible by you if you want to conduct your own job search without completing a profile it's very simple let me walk you through the steps your homepage does show four options your profile update availability search for a job and read your messages click on search for a job Search for a job on the search job postings page you have two options you can conduct a basic job search or an advanced job search to conduct a basic job search you simply need to answer two questions the first question is location where services are being provided this is the city or town where you the pca are looking for work most pcas use their own city or town for the step and the second question is how many miles from the above city or town are you willing to work the maximum amount of aisles you can enter here is 25. once you've answered questions 1 and 2 you can select the blue search box let me show you an example so i've conducted my basic search and some search results have come up if a match is found you will see the important details about your job match for example you will see the city or town where the job is located you'll also see specific skills trainings and certifications the consumer is looking for in a pca the job listing will also show the approximate number of hours per week the consumer needs a pca for if the job posting looks like a good match for you you can contact the job poster directly through the directory select the blue contact job poster on the right side of the screen this will open the send message page which allows you to send a private message directly to the job poster once you've completed typing your message click the send button Advanced job search please remember no personal information is shared through the directory until you decide to share it with the consumer if you want to conduct an advanced job search on the directory select the blue button that reads perform an advanced search on current job postings this is on the left side of the screen selecting an advanced job search allows you the pca to be more specific with the type of job you're looking for for example you'll still need to answer the same two questions on the basic job search but now you can answer more questions about yourself your experiences and your preferences to help you find a better match let me show you an example of an advanced job search okay so i'm searching for jobs for the town of shoes free and within 25 miles of shoes braid that i'm willing to travel and the first question i need to answer is am i comfortable working uh with with pets and i am not so i'm going to answer no uh am i a non-smoker yes i am i'm looking for a job a position that involves working with adults so i'm going to select adults from that drop down and under activities of daily living this is where i get to list my experience so for experience with any of the following i do have assistance with medications i do have experience with dressing and undressing and i do have experience with bathing and grooming i can also list any additional experience i have with higher level adl care so for example i do have experience with home dialysis so i want to list that as well and here is where i can indicate what specific training or any certifications i may have received so i have received cpr training as well as first aid and aba and i get to list the language that i speak which is english and the approximate number of hours i'm looking to work is 40. and on the second half of the page i can simply list when i am available so for weekdays i'm available for all four shifts so i can simply click on select all and it will populate all four shifts for me my weekend availability i'm only available on the mornings during the weekends so i'm going to list that as well and once my advanced search page looks complete i can select the blue search button at the bottom and the directory found a match for me so once again the directory is going to provide me with some basic information about the job posting and it will give me those three options that we discussed earlier about contacting the job poster i can hide the job if it doesn't appear to be a good match or i can add my own notes and it looks like the directory found one match for me so i can review that and if i want to return to the search page i can scroll down here on the bottom left hand corner and click on return to search and that will bring me back to the search page for job postings and i can conduct another a basic search or another advanced search Read your messages from the home page read your messages is the fourth option on the page select read your messages and you can see any messages you have and if they've been read already if you have read them already you'll see a check mark on the left side of the message you can read reply or delete messages from this page you can also view your sent messages by selecting the blue your sent messages box on the right side of the screen if you want to re-read any sent messages you can select view on the right side of the message and the original message will display to return to your messages simply select return to messages on the bottom left corner of the screen to return to your home page you can select home from the top banner on the screen and once you're done using the directory you can select the log off option in the top right corner of the screen good luck with your job search and thank you for watching if you need help using the mass pca directory or have any questions about the directory please call 1-888-masspca to speak to a real person who can help you the helpline is available monday through friday 9 am to 5 Hello welcome to the massachusetts personal care attendant directory my name is ali langhill and i'm going to show you the features for the counselor account on the directory let's get started please note the counselor account is only for functional skills trainers and workforce development professionals to request a counselor account please send an email to louise.gorham@umassmed.edu in that email include your name the name of your employer the name of your supervisor and your supervisor's email address once your counselor account is approved you will be able to obtain lists of pcas by town to share with consumers that are unable to use the directory on their own begin by logging into the directory with a valid email and password once you're logged in you will see the counselor home page the counselor homepage has two options the first is search for workers or search for a job let's start with search for workers this feature on the directory allows a skills trainer to assist a consumer with finding a pca you the counselor have two options for conducting your search for a pca you can begin here with a basic pca search to perform a basic search you'll need to select the city or town where services need to be delivered and the language the consumer prefers the pca speaks let me show you an example i'm going to select the town of paxton and i'm a consumer and i prefer that my pca speaks english and you'll see here at the bottom you've got a few options if you select search you'll see worker profiles that meet your search criteria the results will also provide contact information for each pca listed it will also show a photo if the pca uploaded one the pcas availability experience a profile description and a resume if they uploaded one the other option you have is to search with sortable results this option provides limited information for all worker matches for your city or town and the language but in a table format let me show you an example the table shows the pca's first name last name the record date which is the date they created their profile their phone number cell phone number and email address this table will be sorted by pcas who last updated their profile and their distance to your location cancel is the third option selecting cancel will return you to the counselor home page you can also conduct an advanced search for pcas in the directory the benefit of doing an advanced search will provide less results but hopefully better matches for you let me show you an example of an advanced pca search when you're doing an advanced pca search you'll still need to answer the first two questions about location and language but this search allows you to be more specific with the skills you're looking for in a pca let me show you an example so the location is paxton the language is english and i'm going to answer these questions so i know the specific criteria i'm looking for in a pca should the worker be comfortable with pets i'm going to say yes should the worker be a non-smoker i'm going to answer yes do you have any experience with any of the following so i'm looking for a pca that has experience with eating some housekeeping laundry and some meal prep i'm also looking for a pca with additional experience with higher levels of adl care such as i'm looking for somebody that's got bladder care experience feeding tube experience and oxygen management i'm also looking for a pca that has cna certification cpr certification has been trained in first aid and also has home health aid certification and now i can i'm also looking for pca with particular availability so i'm looking for a pca who's available monday through friday during all the shifts so i'm just going to click on select all and it will populate all the shifts for me on the weekends i am looking for mornings only so i'll just select mornings and you have the same three options down below that you did on the basic search page i'll click search and the results will appear then you'll allow you to go through and select some folks that appear to be a good match if i want to do the same search but have it be sortable i'll need to start a new advanced search good luck with your search and thank you for watching if you need help using the mass pca directory or have any questions about the directory please call 1 888 mass pca to speak to a real person who can help you the helpline is available monday through friday 9 a.m to 5 p.m
